York Town Hall Mural Project

The York Mural Project began in the spring of 2024. A sub-committee was formed by the Building Committee to address a historic display area in the newly renovated York Town Hall. The Sub-Committee decided to supplement the walls with a mural and selected artist, Gordon Carlisle as our mural artist. Working together, in numerous meetings and with a duration for pubic comment, a finalized plan was reached on December 13, 2024. This plan is now in place and the selected artist has begun the process of painting four panels, each a different century. Beginning in the 17th Century through the 20th Century, each panel will represent significant historic events and places in the development of York.

As the mural is being created by Gordon, we are developing corresponding interpretations to help viewers of the mural to navigate town history. If you would like to follow along and offer suggestions or volunteer to help create content we would like to hear from you.
