Guidlines for Submissions to York Mural Project

We encourage everyone who would like to volunteer, to make a written submission for inclusion into a key that will be placed below each mural panel. You will select a topic from our list below. If your submission it accepted, you will be credited. All submissions will be edited to create a continual flow for the reader.
Please see our four mural panels for further information. It is important that you let us know, if you are intending to make a submission, as others may have already picked your preferred topic.
- All information should be accurate and not speculative with factual data added where relevant–include dates, numbers, costs and pertinent information offered. Please cite sources, if from a book, for example, use this form of citation; [Charles Edward Banks, A History of York, Maine Volume II, p. 56-87] Please insert a citation after relevant information from the source. If something has been passed down as lore, as a family story please write if it was first or second hand information and cite where the information came from to the best of your knowledge.
- Each subject’s information should be at least 250 to 300 word minimum.
- Use of quotes or documented knowledge is welcomed where applicable.
- Please try and include subjects vital stats example; Nathaniel Grant Marshall (1812- 1882)
- All dialogue should be understandable by school children, adults, or visitors to York.
